The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has been created for laying down science based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption.
The new Act FSSA makes it mandatory to maintain safety and standard of food products at any stage of manufacture, processing and packaging. The Act provides for stringent measures and is vested with power to suspend or cancel License of the food producer, supplier and others in the food supply chain for non-fulfillment of FSSA provisions for making food safe and conforming to set principles.
This Seminar is intended to enlighten participants in the backdrop of the new FSSAI Act. In this endeavor, BCIC has invited top industry and government experts to share their though processes with participants as there still lies a lot of confusion and there is an urgent need for clarifications on certain clauses of the new Act.
